Supply chain risk management in an uncertain world

globalisation and an endless chain of suppliers on the surface of the globe.

Notes from the CEO | Henrik Halvorsen | June 2025

June traditionally marks a high point for Factlines: the bulk of Norwegian Transparency assessments tend to be completed by month’s end, and many customers share the results of their self-assessments both internally and externally using the Factlines badge.

In 2023 and 2024, over 40% of our customers have displayed the Verified by Factlines badge prominently and we hope to see that number rise in 2025.

When re-assessing the ways in which the political and regulatory landscape has evolved since January 2025, two aspects stand out: increased volatility, coupled with an outstanding need to future-proof business practices in the face of such uncertainty. Companies rely on their supply chains for raw materials, as well as finished products, goods and services.

In a world that has enjoyed the fruits of globalization for the past thirty years, supply chains have only grown longer and more complex. In the past 36 months, companies have had to deal with flash tariffs, natural disasters, sanctions, inflation and outstanding political instability: that confluence of risk factors means that there are now many more variables one needs to consider when first selecting a supplier, and deciding when to re-qualify them.

Factlines’ software has also become more complex, in order to help our customers effectively tackle their needs. Our baseline assumption is that risks compound and need to be evaluated from more than one angle: that has been reflected in the growing number of topics suppliers are being assessed on, as well as the increasing sophistication customers have when selecting who gets assessed, based on what set of criteria and on which specific points.

If you have a challenge or want to discuss certain supply chain-oriented risks and how to address them efficiently, please contact us. We are here to help!
